Obituary for Dorothy Beverly Thaler

Dorothy Beverly Thaler
Dorothy Thaler passed away on October 28, 2017 in Peoria, Arizona. Born in Chicago, IL, Dorothy was the youngest of five children. Dorothy met Jere Thaler in 1942 and they married in 1945 after he was discharged from the Air Force.

The Thalers lived in MN and CA, then moved to CO. Dorothy worked as secretary to an engineering magazine editor at Cahners Publishing Co. in Denver. During her 10-year employment, Dorothy was promoted to assistant editor. She left the company when it moved its headquarters to Boston. Shortly thereafter, she began working at Honeywell Test Instruments Division in Littleton, CO, in various positions in the advertising department. After 16 years, she retired as a Marketing Communications Specialist.

Dorothy loved to travel and her vacations included Europe, the Greek islands, North Africa, Israel, Egypt, and sailing to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska.

After retiring, Dorothy moved to Sun City, AZ where she enrolled in art and pottery classes and served as president of her condominium homeowners association and the local antiques guild. She especially enjoyed her work at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic where she volunteered for 25 years.

Dorothy's strong faith was an important and influential facet of her life. She will be remembered for her intelligence, sense of humor and deep caring for the entire family. As the last representative for her generation, Dorothy was the holder of the stories, the memories and way of life of those times as experienced by her family. Kind and compassionate, Dorothy was a true friend to many and always ready to lend a helping hand.

Dorothy is survived by two children, Leda Thaler and Larry Thaler (Beckie).
